Snow retention systems
Snow retention systems hold the sliding snow in the eaves area or, in the case of longer roofs, also on the roof surface. Particularly in winters with heavy snowfall, there is a danger of large amounts of snow sliding off the roof unpredictably, causing damage to property and personal injury. In order to prevent such dangerous roof avalanches, our snow retention systems have been developed for standing seam roofs, but also for industrial profiles and for trapezoidal and strip roofs.
With the correct use of our products, the building owner can comply with the requirements of the building laws and his obligation to ensure traffic safety with peace of mind.
We offer our snow retention systems in various materials for the most common metal roof coverings. They are attached to standing seam roofs by clamping them to the seam or to trapezoidal and groin roofs by screwing them onto the high beading.
Depending on the roofing, we offer single, double and triple pipe snow retention systems. Snow stops are designed to prevent small amounts of snow from slipping between the snow retention pipe and the roof surface.
The design of our snow retention systems complies with the specifications of the relevant standards and the professional rules of the German plumbing trade. In particular, we attach great importance to the use of the required material grades and thicknesses.
Remarks
When planning or installing snow retention systems, some important considerations are necessary to ensure the function of the snow retention
The forces of the sliding snow are transferred to the roof structure via the snow retention pipe, the snow retention brackets and holders. Here, maximum distances of the holders as well as careful planning of the installation of the snow retention row or several rows are required.
The dimensions (number of snow retention rows, bracket spacing, double or single pipe snow retention ) of the snow retention system must be determined on the basis of several specifications such as site-specific snow load (according to DIN EN 1991-1-3 or information from the structural engineer), roof pitch, roof shape, roof dimensions and type of roof covering, rebate spacing as well as special factors such as wind load, etc..
The holding values required for this determination were determined by us in accordance with the specifications of ÖNORM B 3418.
